HI Friends and welcome to my harmonious world of mandolin pickin’. I just completed a new book for Mel Bay subtitled “Twin Pickin’.” This is the working title, the actual title will be something like “Blazing Mandolin Solos for One or More”. I love the sound of any instruments playing great harmony parts, but there is something special about mandolins and fiddles. This book should apply to both instruments.

To Help You Out– I’ve marked and numbered each measure. When you play with a buddy and crash, it is easier to count out and find the trouble measure when they are all marked.

When you play harmony parts, you should accent the same as the lead. Crescendo the same as the lead. Right hand pick the same whenever possible. You should be like two figure skaters tightly going through their routine.

This is just the first part of the song. I know, I am a big tease, but I just wanted to give you a taste of Twin Pickin’ for the mandolin.

The book will be out sometime this summer and it is full of challenging arrangements that take you up and down the fingerboard. The list of songs is the same in my Twin Pickin’ book for Guitar.

Have fun with this [A] part and let me know how it treats you.
Best always,
Steve Kaufman
